Muriel E. Shockley

Member At-Large

Muriel E. Shockley, a long-time faculty member in Goddard's Undergraduate Program, has been appointed as the program director. She has served the College in various roles, including Progress Review Group chair, Third Century Plan chair, Collective Bargaining Team member, and president of the Faculty Union. Shockley, a licensed psychotherapist and mediator, has extensive experience working with community collaborations addressing issues of service and access to diverse populations. As an accomplished grant writer since 1998, she has brought more than $600,000 in research grants to her affiliated institutions. Shockley co-directed the Multicultural Access & Treatment Demonstration Project, a multi-year research grant funded by the California Endowment, aimed at creating a best practices model of multicultural mental health service delivery. She holds a PhD in Leadership and Change from Antioch University, an MA in Clinical Psychology from Antioch University, and a BA in Economics from Smith College.
